Yesterday, our lab completed the final farm visit of one of our large field studies in Ontario.
This marks the end of an incredible team effort that began in December 2024. Since then, our team has visited multiple farms almost every day — through sunshine, rain, snow, long drives, early mornings, and long days in the field and in the lab.
Our team worked tirelessly to conduct health assessments of transition cows and collect a multitude of data and biological samples. This effort also required countless hours of driving, entering and reviewing data, managing a large team, and coordinating activities with farmers and farm staff.
We could not be prouder of what this team has accomplished.
A huge thank you to every student who contributed along the way. Your dedication, hard work, and willingness to learn and grow made this study possible.
And, most importantly, thank you to all of the farmers and farm staff who welcomed us onto their farms and partnered with us throughout this project. We are incredibly grateful for your trust, time, patience, and collaboration.
Strong partnerships between researchers and the dairy industry are essential for generating research that is both scientifically rigorous and directly applicable to commercial dairy production. They also provide students with invaluable opportunities to learn under real-world conditions and develop the skills they will carry into their future careers.
