Ribeiro Lab at ADSA 2026 Wrap-Up

Yesterday our team returned to Guelph after a fantastic and re-energized week at the ADSA 2026 Annual Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin! We are incredibly proud of how our students represented our research during the poster and oral sessions.

During the poster sessions, PhD student Amanda Simone Martins shared her research on “Growth differentiation factor-15 as a novel marker for systemic inflammation in transition dairy cows,” while PhD student Ivan Avalos-Rosario presented on “Gene expression signatures in prepartum peripheral blood leukocytes associated with postpartum health status in dairy cows.”

For the oral presentations, MSc student Alicia Bohren delivered an excellent talk on using DHI data for a streamlined assessment of transition management quality. Ivan Avalos also shared his research on using wearable sensors for health risk assessment in fresh cows as he enters the final year of his program. Matheus Santos presented data from his MSc work exploring the relationship between late hypocalcemia and inflammation in fresh cows. Matheus is now pursuing his PhD at the University of Wisconsin–Madison—they are lucky to have him, and we wish him the absolute best!
